PSG targets a £112 million Chelsea target to replace Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe has decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) at the end of this season, and the Ligue 1 champions have placed one of Chelsea’s main summer targets on their list to replace the superstar. The situation has revolved around the French footballer during the past season in Paris, and the club has made significant efforts to keep the 25-year-old. However, it was revealed last Thursday that Mbappe would leave the team at the end of the season, and finding a replacement for the forward will be a challenge for PSG.
According to Jason Burt from the Daily Telegraph, Victor Osimhen and other stars are being eyed to replace Mbappe, which could spell bad news for Chelsea. Additionally, Mauricio Pochettino is in urgent need of a striker for the 2024/25 campaign, and Osimhen from Napoli is one of Chelsea’s key targets. According to reports from Standard, the Nigerian footballer signed a new contract with the Serie A club last year, keeping him in Italy until 2026 and includes a massive release clause of about £112 million.
With Mbappe’s wages off their books, PSG has the resources to outbid Chelsea, which had financial fair play concerns in January. The 25-year-old would be an excellent addition to either team as he is a prolific goal scorer and has followed up his impressive 2023/24 campaign by scoring eight times for Napoli so far this season.
